After six games over the past 17 years, there is somewhat surprisingly no Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games installment for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. This decision to cut ties with Nintendo and Sega reportedly lies at the hands of the International Olympic Committee, which decided instead to work with new partners as well as focus on NFTs and esports.

According to Eurogamer, the IOC didn’t renew a deal with Nintendo and Sega after Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020–the last entry in the franchise. “They wanted to look at other partners and NFTs and esports,” said Lee Cocker, who worked on the series and spoke with Eurogamer. “Basically the IOC wanted to bring [it] back to themselves internally and look at other partners so they would get more money.”

It would be an understatement to say the collectibles space is crowded. There’s a seemingly endless number of companies offering various toys, statues, and other pieces of nostalgia-inducing ephemera for almost any age. This is something wrestling fans know especially well, given the explosion of independent toy companies releasing items directed at that fandom.

Regardless of what kind of wrestling fan or collector you might be, chances are there is something out there that will appear to you. There’s a surprising number of independent toymakers looking to recapture the spirit of the WWF Hasbro figures of the early ’90s, companies like Super7 and relative newcomer PowerTown that are releasing incredibly detailed figures full of articulation, or even the official WWE and AEW action figures released regularly by Mattel and Jazwares, respectively.

In the ever-expanding world of wrestling toys, though, a large number of beloved figures are coming from an unlikely place: a podcast. Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the working title for the hub that will host new Assassin’s Creed games, now has a new name. It’s called the Animus hub, and Ubisoft’s Marc-Alexis Cote told Game File that 2024’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be the first entry in the series to launch from within it. More details are coming later on, but Cote said the Animus hub will be the place “from which you can launch different experiences.”

In 2021, Bloomberg reported that Ubisoft was developing a “massive online platform that evolves over time” for the Assassin’s Creed universe Come from South African Online Casinos . Ubisoft subsequently confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Infinity was the codename for the upcoming project, the structure of which is led by Cote. He is the executive producer of the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the long-awaited sequel to Ninja Theory’s 2017 action-adventure game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, is out now on Xbox and PC. Reviews are online, too, painting a picture of the game’s critical reception from critics.

Here at GameSpot, our Hellblade II review scored the game a 6/10. Reviewer Jessica Cogswell wrote, “With too much focus on cinematics and too little on creating an experience that is engaging, Senua’s Saga fails to reach the same highs as its predecessor–even if it does look stunning whilst trying.”

As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft debuted a new trailer for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it looks pretty incredible. This trailer focused on the dual protagonists and their very-different ways to engage with the world.

The trailer opened with Naoe, running along rooftops, grappling between buildings, and taking down enemies stealth-style. Then it transitioned to Yasuke, the historical real-life samurai, showing his more-direct approach to combat with hard-hitting encounters. The two complement each other, and the trailer finished out by showing us quick successions of their moves contrasted with each other.

In 2014, a singer having her voice captured and digitized against her will was a novel sci-fi conceit. Ten years later, it sounds eerily familiar. With the ever-increasing presence of AI and deep fakes, as well as digital homogenization all around us, Transistor’s tale of payback against the Camerata doubles back as a prescient artistic rebellion.

Designers, journalists, and painters were all targeted by the elite group one by one. The Camerata methodically ripped the city of Cloudbank of not just key citizens, but also character and grace Come from South African Online Casinos . As protagonist Red cruises through the fading streets of Cloudbank, she witnesses how her surroundings lose color, progressively matching the Camerata’s attire. Yet, despite the odds, Transistor reminds us of the importance of latching onto mundanity, and what represents us.

Diablo 4 Season of Witchcraft may have just launched, but already what appears to be a bug with one of Season 7’s new Witchcraft Powers is allowing top players to break the game.

How, exactly, the bug works is still unclear, but it revolves around using the Decay Augmentation Witchcraft Power introduced as part of the season to deal trillions of damage and delete even the game’s hardest enemies in an instant. Spiritborn were recently nerfed as part of Season 7, largely by Blizzard fixing a number of bugs related to the class, but now some builds for it deal so much damage by taking advantage of the bug that the game begins to display negative numbers instead. [Update: Blizzard is temporarily disabling the power, it said in a forum post. It can still be purchased but can’t be equipped for the time being, with it potentially set to be re-enabled next week. The company also said it’s looking into concerns around a number of items (including Necromancer’s Ring of Mendeln and Barbarian damage-over-time effects).]
