World of Warcraft is getting remade in Unreal Engine 5, not by Blizzard, but by a group of creators who operate the fan-run server known as Turtle WoW.

Turtle WoW has existed since 2018, and is a free, unofficial private server that looks to continue the original “Vanilla” version of WoW with an entirely fan-made expansion called Mysteries of Azeroth. The expansion, which takes a different route from Blizzard’s first official WoW expansion, The Burning Crusade, adds different playable races to the Horde and Alliance and additionally introduces features from later WoW expansions, like Transmogrification and Guild Vaults. It also adds new content (including new dungeons and raids) that aim to keep Azeroth relevant, rather than whisking players away to an entirely new planet or continent like in Blizzard’s official WoW expansions.

At Gamescom this week, Fable creator Peter Molyneux revealed his next game–Masters of Albion–and he now says it could be his last. In an interview, Molyneux said he expects to be in his late ’60s when Masters of Albion is done, and if he were to make another game, he would be in his mid-70s.

D23 came and went without any word about a brand new Star Wars attraction at the Disney parks. But there’s one currently existing ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom that’s going to get a few familiar faces. The Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride will feature a new mission that incorporates The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Lucasfilm creative executive Dave Filoni came on stage at D23’s Disney Experiences panel to make the announcement. Filoni noted that Epic Games’ Unreal Engine–which already helped Lucasfilm produce The Mandalorian through the virtual set known as The Volume–will be used to incorporate Din Djarin and his adoptive son, Grogu, into Smuggler’s Run.

Instead of using Spidey, Sony has put villains and supporting characters into leading roles. Unlike the films that came after it, including Morbius and Madame Web, Venom was actually successful. However, the upcoming third film in the franchise, Venom: The Last Dance, will be the final Venom movie.

Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman casually made the announcement during an interview with Deadline when he said “The third and last Venom, is going to be huge.” He also noted that “when the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be a significant event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film.”

Sunderfolk, a four-player co-op turn-based RPG, is looking like the next game to encourage folks to experience the joy of tabletop games. It sees players fight together through a story where every NPC and player choice is narrated by a game master, allowing a group of friends to party up for weekly game nights to play through a campaign together. Sunderfolk doesn’t offer the same level of narrative freedom as a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 (or playing an actual tabletop game with a real person as the game master); instead, it honors binary choices in a curated narrative. Even if that means Sunderfolk’s game master is technically always railroading the players (a major faux pas in the tabletop community), I still think this feature sounds incredibly cool, potentially doing enough to still emulate what it’s like to play in a story-driven tabletop campaign with your friends.

Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake comes out in October, and the developer has shown off some interesting extras on social media. A recent post revealed an optional no-UI mode, as well as a so-called “’90s filter” that adds large amounts of film grain, color correction, and other on-screen elements.

As you can see in the above post, the two modes work together to create an aesthetic that is highly reminiscent of the original Silent Hill 2. Copious film grain and fog are two of Silent Hill’s defining aesthetic traits, and the game did not feature any UI elements–not even a health bar.
